Intent and process: Royal Bank of Canada wanted to tell a story that RBC is with you in all different stages of life. Their iconic blue bar takes us from the birth of a child and his first steps, through his childhood, to graduation, to his first business, to marriage, and finally to come full circle to having his own children. The main challenge was in two parts. One was to come up with iconic scenes that would encapsulate each stage of life. The second was to come up with an illustration style that would describe this tale of evolution. Our solution harkens back to the illustrations styles of Saul Bass and Charlie Harper mixed in with a modern sensibility.
